Just read on All music that this group was an Afro-rock group, and didn't make it because they had refused to cooperate with corporate music. they even played with Ginger Baker from Cream.
This album is called "Phase Three" at allmusic and is influenced by the electric Isley Brothers and Grand Funk Railroad.
I'd love to see their albums Chapter 1 and Phase 2, which also sound very interesting. In the meantime, I'm waiting for this to finish downloading and going to take a very good listen.
